Simple, yet powerful, Catch + Think are fun ball-based activities that enables cognitive stimulation, improves attention, memory, and reasoning.
Accessible to all. It can be practiced at home, work, indoors, or outdoors.
Choose to use a rugby ball, a basket ball or a hand ball.
No prior sporting knowledge required.
THE COURSES
Easy-to-follow material, built with a neuroscientific approach, is specifically designed to provide practical and useful knowledge.
Throughout the courses, sport drills are used to enhance the learning, positioning the learner in a reflexive posture.
Courses can easily be combined for advanced learning and improved retention.
THE DIGITAL PLATFORM
All content is readily accessible through our convenient e-learning platform.
On-line tools include Identify, Understand, Regulate and Train Attention courseware, activity videos, quizzes, tests, scientific resources, and all necessary information on the training activities.
Available online support given by the Catch + Think Team throughout the learning experience – English and French native speakers.
The main objective is a gradual appropriation of what attention is, along with the consolidation of how to implement it in your daily activities.
Learners observe and experiment repeatedly their attention during the online course and the specifically designed training drills.
Proposed learning modules and activities are intelligently organized in logical sequences within a teaching unit, balancing structure with independence and regular assessments of prior learning.
The learning journey gives the learners the keys in hand to:
Effectively manage their attention
Understand the mechanisms of distraction
Develop their own attention management strategy
Activate intention mode instead of reaction mode
Manage mental overload
Learners can obtain answers to various questions, follow online webinars and other enrichment-based resources on www.catchandthinkacademy.com. They may also exchange ideas and experiences on the learning platform with their fellow learners and the Catch + Think team.
How the method works?
The core of each course
IDENTIFY, UNDERSTAND, REGULATE
Each Catch + Think course has a common core: empower each learner with a holistic understanding of what attention is. This attentional mastery begins with three basic concepts:
- First, identify and differentiate between the many forms of attention we use,
- Then understand how each form of attention works,
- Finally, learn to regulate attention applying the appropriate form and intensity for the task at hand.
TRAIN YOUR BRAIN
Attention is trained, using the Catch + Think balls and progressive drills.
Training is designed to be accessible. It can be practiced at home, school, work, indoors, or outdoors. No prior sporting knowledge is required. Athletes play the same drills, just at a different level.
The focus is not duration but on regular, consistent practice. With just 20 minutes a week, cognitive skills will improve significantly.
GOAL
Controlling your attention empowers you to accomplish specific tasks or goals.
TRAINING
BENEFITS
Why train with Catch + Think?
When your attention is in the right place success will follow
We help you get the basics right – concentration, focus and attention – so that you allocate your energy and resources on the things that matter most.
Body and mind for the Win
With improved concentration and awareness, comes this sweet spot: enhanced vision/biologic motion perception – a competitive edge for many athletes and decision makers.
Accelerate the Speed of Thought
When our brain processes information at speed, this enables us to literally ‘think on our feet’ irrespective of the playing field – in the game, in the boardroom or in the classroom.
Manage the Mental Load
Executive function refers to the mental load we must contend with each day, just to get things done. When we exercise skills like mental control and cognitive flexibility, we are less susceptible to stress and distraction. And in a better position to commit our mind – and bodies – to the task at hand.
Power up Working Memory
Our processing speed is how FAST we make decisions, working memory is how well we do it.
Better memory recall, improved retention, and a heightened ability to multitask all make our decision making more efficient. We respond quicker and with far fewer errors.
ACTIVE LEARNING
When you’re all about the GAME, passive is not an option. Catch + Think leverages the benefits of active learning.
All our courses work on an inquiry learning approach: generating information and creating meaning from it through personal experience. New skills are build based on previous experiences and knowledge.
Learning is an active process. The most effective way to learn something new is to be actively involved in the process. Catch + Think encourages the use of all senses, making the learning experience as real as possible. We also include group discussions, additional reading, self-assessment and evaluations to ensure that our courses are as engaging and as stimulating as possible – long after the ball is no longer in play.
Motivation is the key to learning. Learning is more powerful when it comes with context and relevance. We motivate the value of each new skill, and how it can impact development.
DISTRACTORS AND THEIR IMPACT
We assume our brains are multitasking, but they’re not. They’re overwhelmed by all the mental noise competing for our attention.
A relentless stream of stimuli from our environment, amplified by technology and social media, actually impairs our brains’ ability to perform.
Inattentiveness impacts how well we function in the classroom, on the field, in the workplace, and even in relationships. When we’re distracted, it’s harder to learn. Harder to engage. Harder to connect. And we move further away from our goals.
This is why cognitive inhibition is so important to us at Catch + Think. Without proper cognitive inhibition, we can’t tune out irrelevant information to focus on the task at hand.
The good news is that while many of us lack these skills. they can be learnt, at any age.
Inhibition and learning how to inhibit distractors are a fundamental part of Catch + Think.
We are committed to training your attention to prioritize meaningful over mindless so you can get the life YOU want.
